Robotica 2009: Humanoid and Service Robots

Milan discovers the world of robots

Robots will "land" in Milan and, for the first time in Italy, will have their own dedicated area: a real Arena where they will be able to demonstrate their abilities. This will take place at Robotica 2009, to be held from Wednesday 25 to Saturday 28 November (9.30-18.30) at the Service Centre of Fiera Milano Rho (South Gate).

Taking their place in the Arena set up in the centre of the exhibition area of Robotica 2009 will be an innovative series of products at the service of mankind and the quality of life, the so-called "non-manufacturing" robots, or service robots, which are used for diverse activities, such as those for entertainment (board games) and educational uses, domestic applications as well as those used in the medical sector and those of extreme danger.

"The event will combine game aspects with scientific ones," underlines Marco Pinetti, president of Artenergy Publishing, the company organizing the event, "And will see, alongside the challenges between teams made up of small and friendly humanoid robots, universities and research centres, avant-garde laboratories and strongly innovative companies."

"The show will be able to count on a prestigious scientific committee," adds Roberto Bombonati, project manager of Robotica 2009, "Which will see the presence of prominent personalities of the national academic world. Important names of the robotic sector will also be represented at the stands of their university departments, which will hold meetings and short workshops in a dedicated hall to illustrate the state-of-the-art of their research to visitors."
