A CONFERENCE TO TAKE STOCK OF HUMANOID ROBOTS
Where are we? Where are we going? Is what we are doing correct? These and more are the questions that scientists and researchers taking part in the conference "My friend the robot", promoted by SIRI-Associazione Italiana di Robotica – the Italian Robotic Association – to take place Thursday 26 November at 14.00 in the Sagittarius room of the Service Centre of Fiera Milano Rho will try to answer. Chairman of the symposium will be Rezia Molfino, president of SIRI, who will also make the opening speech and introduction. The other speakers (along with the titles of their presentations), are Francesco Nori from IIT (“Embodiment, neurophysiology and humanoid robotics”), Anna Menciassi from the Sant’Anna High School of Pisa (“Robots used for medicinal purposes: friends in the operating theatre”), Nicola Tomatis, director of BlueBotics (“Service robotics: from forecasts to the market”), Renato Zaccaria from the University of Genoa (“A human, non-humanoid robot”), Arturo Baroncelli of Comau (“Industrial and humanoid robots: a reference outline and possible scenarios”), and Enzo Marvaso and Michele Maffucci from the Ipsia Galileo Galilei of Turin (“Robotics in teaching. The Roomba laboratory”, in collaboration with the Instruction Ministry, iRobot and Nital).
